AquaCity Poprad is literally self-sufficient and by using geothermal water and solar energy, it prevents about 27 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere every day. The water park energy costs are considerably reduced. Thermal energy that comes from extensive underground geothermal water sources is transferred to heat exchangers and heat pumps and returns back to nature after it is cooled down. This means that the natural cycle can start again. Photocells on the glazed facade of the Blue Sapphire pool centre change sunrays to pure electric energy. By using natural energy sources instead of e.g. burning coal, AquaCity saves millions of Euros per year. What is saved is invested further in clients in the form of quality resort equipment and facilities that would be much more expensive if coal or gas were burned in the necessary amounts. However, the long-time ecological concept includes more nature-saving activities.  Waste elimination and separation have been introduced and clients as well as employees have been engaged. Energy saving light bulbs are used all around the resort, motion sensors have been installed in corridors and toilets. Chemical cleaners have been eliminated and replaced by eco-friendly products and mechanical cleaning. Dual-flush toilets and 100% recycled eco-friendly toilet paper are used, the water flow rate in showers and washbasins has been reduced to a saving mode. Disposable plastic tableware has been replaced by eco-friendly degradable bio plastics. We prefer local food suppliers and organic food has been added to the breakfast and dinner offer for our hotel guests. All around the resort, 100% recycled paper is used, electronic communication is preferred. There are eco-friendly toners in our printers which are set to economy mode and we do our best to use as few toners as possible. Electronic invoicing and document archiving are being introduced. The AquaCity Poprad hotels have been using the green programme whose aim is to motivate our guests to help protect the environment while staying with us. Towels and bed linen are exchanged on request. We offer eco-friendly bathroom cosmetics and cosmetic products that have not been tested on animals. Our resort includes EV charging stations. Environmental protection is one of the main tasks of this generation and concerns the whole society. AquaCity Poprad saves energy, money and mainly environment with its responsible approach.
